Come and Join the Fiesta!

We are four Northwestern Oklahoma College Students majoring in Education. We have created a Mexican Fiesta to help our children with Creative Arts! It will be so much fun and they will learn many things. (Don't tell the students about the learning part and they will never know.)

  1. Talent Show- We will be doing a skit with puppets. We will do this to teach the students their colors in Spanish. The children will be entertained by the puppets and will learn their colors in Spanish at the same time.
  2. Original Lyrics Assignment- We decided to change the lyrics to La Cucharacha. We have made the song fun to get the students excited to learn about the Mexican culture. They can use this song to learn about rythm and beat.
  3. Rythm or Movement Acitivity- Our students will learn to do the Mexican hat dance. Doing this will reinforce learning of the traditional Mexican Music. The dance will get the students out of their seats and moving about.
  4. Play or Drama- Our play focuses on having compassion for a homeless woman. We are doing a short skit to help our students realize the poverty that burdens Mexico.
  5. Art/Craft Project- We will make Pinata's and Maraca's as our craft project. The children will learn where pinata's came from and their importance in the Mexican culture. The maraca's can be used with our songs we have chosen to use.
